Sweta Tejpal

Criminal Defence and Immigration Lawyer

Sweta Tejpal practises criminal and immigration law. She has successfully conducted criminal trials and appeals and has addressed complex immigration matters. Her background in criminology and justice studies informs a direct, practical approach to defending clients.

Experience

Ms. Tejpal has appeared at all levels of court in Ontario, including the Ontario Court of Justice, Superior Court of Justice and Court of Appeal for Ontario. She represents clients facing charges ranging from domestic assault and drug possession to sexual offences and homicide.

Her immigration experience includes sponsorship appeals, judicial reviews in the Federal Court, and humanitarian and compassionate applications. She understands the importance of navigating the immigration system carefully when families and legal status are at stake.

Professional Leadership

Ms. Tejpal serves as Peel Director for the Criminal Lawyers’ Association and has co-chaired its accessibility committee. She is also a Legal Aid Ontario panel lawyer and has served as per diem duty counsel and per diem Crown counsel in Ontario.
